Writers: Turn Your Unpublished Articles Into Cash with Associated Content

Date March 31, 2007 By Matthew Paulson

A lot of writers enjoy the hobby of writing, but they don’t enjoy the business of writing. It’s fun to actually write, but getting one’s articles published is extremely difficult and competitive. There are hundreds of thousands of other writers who are all hoping for publicity and fame too, and it’s very easily to get discouraged and quit trying to get published. Fortunately, there’s a new service that pays writers for their unpublished works called Associated Content.

What is Associated Content?

Associated Content is an independent publishing company that accepts unpublished works from writers through their online submission system. They have been in existence since mid 2006 and have published tens of thousands of articles by freelance writers.

The company makes their money by posting your articles on their website. Advertisements are placed with your articles, and the income from those advertisements is the primary source of revenue for the company. In addition, Associated Content might license your articles to publications that are in need of additional content.

What can I submit?

You can submit just about anything to Associated Content and get it published. The company accepts about 90% of all articles given to them. The work that you submit to Associated Content will have to be at least 400 words in length and have a clever title. It’s suggested that you put a picture with your article, but that’s not required.

Associated Content does have a tendency to be less willing to pay for articles that are on topics which are infrequently read. Celebrity gossip stories tend to make a lot, because everyone reads them. A write-up about an obscure disease that’s affected two people probably won’t bring in as much.

How Much Do I Make?

Through Associated Content you’ll get paid in two different ways. The first is the straight up fee for the article. The absolute minimum Associated Content will pay for an article is $3.00. It’s not a lot, but it’s better than nothing. The highest I’ve personally gotten for an article from Associated Content is $50.00. Usually articles average around $7-$12 depending on how well you write and what you are writing about.

You will also earn money through what they call a “performance bonus.” This is extra money that you earn in addition to your income that you make when your articles read. For every 1,000 individuals that read your articles, AC will give you $1.50. Last month I made about $25.00 from the performance bonus.

The limit on how much you can make each month really depends on how much you want to write. I was on a writing frenzy in January and wrote 5 articles every single day, and made over $1,000 that month just by writing for Associated Content.

When Do I Get Paid?

After submitting your article, Associated Content will review it within five business days and then publish it. After your article is published, your payment will be sent to you through PayPal. Associated Content sends out PayPal payments every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Usually you will see the money from an article that you submitted no more than a week after you submitted it for publication.

How Can I Sign-Up?

Joining Associated Content is very easy to do. All you have to do is fill out a simple form on their website and you’re ready to start publishing. Click Here to Join Associated Content.
